Our Story

CEO and Co-founder, Jeff Shortis led the build out of an industry leading investment data warehouse, and followed this by becoming the first Chief Data Officer (CDO) in the asset management space. Through his many experiences both as a software provider and later as a senior officer, it became apparent to Jeff that despite all the progress being made with regards to making data bigger, better, and faster, very little had been accomplished in ensuring that the business had a clear understanding of the data itself. Jeff witnessed this problem first hand, and very quickly came to the realization that there had to be a better way to organize data and synthesize the important details in a way that could be easily understood by both business and technical users. During this time, social networks were having a huge impact in providing large levels of user participation, engagement and tremendous transparency. Yet little progress had been made to harness this power within the data universe. In June of 2012, Jeff formalized his team and started Data3Sixty, with the mission to connect the lessons learned from prior experiences with the power of collaboration to make it easier to understand and transact with data.
